Where Can You Drive Golf Carts?
Operation is authorized on public streets with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less; crossing of state highways, including farm-to-market roads, is permitted only at signalized intersections; and operation is allowed only between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Golf carts are prohibited from crossing the state highway system at the intersections of Mormon Mill Road and U.S. Highway 281, as well as FM 1431 and Bluebonnet Drive/Ave N.
Legal Requirements
- Must display a valid Texas Department of Motor Vehicles license plate
- Driver must possess a valid Driver's License
- Liability insurance not less than the minimum required by state law for motor vehicles
- Comply with all traffic laws
- Comply with all parking laws

Prohibited Uses
- Operation prohibited on sidewalks, hike and bike trails, playgrounds, or other public recreational areas.
- Prohibited from towing of any kind
- Prohibited from crossing the state highway system at the intersections of Mormon Mill Road and U.S. Highway 281, as well as FM 1431 and Bluebonnet Drive/Ave N.
Safety Acknowledgement (Required)
- The owner must complete a safety acknowledgment form. Once submitted, a golf cart permit sticker will be issued and must be clearly displayed on the golf cart at all times. Complete Safety Acknowledgement Form. A printed copy of your Safety Acknowledgement Form must be brought to City Hall to pick up your Golf Cart Permit Sticker. There is no fee for the permit sticker.
