This month, we’re kicking off our new City Spotlight Series, which is an in-depth look at the departments that keep Marble Falls running. Each month, we’ll highlight
one department, sharing what they do, the services they provide, and how they help make our city a great place to live. For August, we’re shining the spotlight on the Parks & Recreation Department.
The Marble Falls Parks & Recreation Department is at the heart of our community’s quality of life. From maintaining our beautiful parks and green spaces to planning events that bring neighbors together, this department plays a vital role in making Marble Falls a vibrant place to live, work, and visit. Their work goes far beyond mowing grass or planting flowers, as it’s about creating spaces where families gather, friends connect, and the community thrives.
This summer, Parks & Recreation wrapped up another successful Summer Concert Series, which filled Johnson Park with music, food, and fun every Friday night from June 6 through August 8. These free, family-friendly events featured a mix of local and regional performers, giving residents and visitors the chance to enjoy a variety of live music in the heart of Marble Falls. It’s just one example of how the department uses public spaces to create memorable experiences.
Parks & Recreation also coordinates youth recreation leagues, including softball, soccer, baseball, basketball, and flag football, giving our youngest residents the opportunity to stay active, learn teamwork, and build lifelong friendships. In addition to recreation and events, the department’s park maintenance teams and facilities team work year-round to keep our parks, sports fields, and public spaces clean, safe, and ready for use. Together, these teams keep Marble Falls beautiful, active, and welcoming for everyone.
Looking ahead, the department has an exciting lineup of special events for the community to enjoy. From Halloween in the Park, to the Family Camp Out, to 44 Nights of Christmas - which includes the Winter Ice Skating Rink, Breakfast with Santa, and the Lighted Christmas Parade - the Marble Falls Parks and Recreation Department brings the magic of the seasons to life and creates traditions that families look forward to year after year.
