On the evening of November 11, 2021, the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Temple, Texas notified the Marble Falls Police Department of a possible threat in the area.
An elderly male patient informed hospital staff that he had placed an incendiary device inside his motel room at the Hill Country Inn & Suites of Marble Falls. The patient gave a detailed description of the device and its location inside his room. MFPD Officers responded to the Hill Country Inn and observed a partially burned homemade fuse in proximity to materials consistent with a combustible device, as well as multiple firearms and ammunition inside the room. The Hill Country Inn was immediately evacuated. The Austin Police Department Bomb Squad responded and secured the scene. A Hazardous Waste Disposal Team later removed multiple items of combustible material from the room.
Members of MFPD’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office conducted a joint investigation into the incident. As a result, Lowry Neuman Vann, 73, of Killeen, Texas was taken into custody for the offense of Arson with Intent to Damage Habitation, a First-Degree Felony.
