City of Marble Falls Announces Soccer Season for Spring 2022

On November 16th, the Marble Falls City Council voted unanimously for the Parks and Recreation Department to initiate a recreational youth soccer program beginning Spring of 2022. A full eight-week recreational season will be offered March through May, with signups starting December 15th. Team formations and schedules will be released at the end of February. The program is available for ages 4-12 years old and open to those that live in or outside the city limit of Marble Falls.

“We are committed to offering high-quality programs and facilities for the community,” said Lacey Dingman, Parks and Recreation Director for Marble Falls. “The focus of the league will be to create a fun, safe, and accessible play to all players regardless of playing ability, social, or economic background.” 

The City of Marble Falls would like to thank Granite Country Youth Soccer Association (GCYSA) and all of its volunteers for the years of service to the community for the area soccer program. Given the growing community and parent feedback and knowing recreation soccer is an essential program, the Marble Falls City Council directed staff to create a league starting in 2022. This decision comes in preparation of the opening of the new sports park at Thunder Rock, scheduled for Fall of 2022, which includes four full sized soccer fields, four baseball fields, a multi-purpose field, walking trails, and restroom/concession buildings. The City’s goal is to continue supporting the GCYSA to manage and operate its current select soccer program.   

“We are looking forward to offering a program with a dedicated staff to ensure proper field maintenance, ease of registration with in-person and online options, upfront online scheduling, and streamlining communication,” said Richard Westerman, Mayor of Marble Falls. “While simultaneously reducing the burden on parent volunteers to allow for more involvement with coaching and other team volunteer positions.” 

The City of Marble Falls appreciates the dedication GCYSA has shown to the community for years while providing this service and would like to thank all of the players, volunteers, and board members who made the program a success.

Registration will open on December 15th and close on February 18th. The cost for registration will be $75.00 for City of Marble Falls residents and $85.00 for those living outside the city limits.
