After much consideration, the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce and the City of Marble Falls have agreed to a realignment of the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) as well as the sponsorship of community-based events. This transition will allow for a more efficient and effective execution of responsibilities as they relate to the operations of these programs.
Effective January 1, 2022, the City will begin management of the CVB as well as pursue the viability of sponsoring some of the previously held city-wide events. The Chamber will continue to sponsor Walkway of Lights, Lakefest and Mayfest.
In the interim, we will be working closely with the Chamber and existing CVB staff to ensure a smooth transition which will include bringing the two existing CVB positions under the City’s Administration Department. These positions and all CVB operations, including the management of the Visitor Center, will continue to be fully funded by the Hotel Occupancy Tax Fund. There is no impact to the General Fund.
“The City is very appreciative of the Chamber’s leadership over the years in managing the CVB. I believe this transition will allow each agency an opportunity to focus on and grow their respective programs in the best interest of the groups we serve.” – Mike Hodge, City Manager
“The Chamber of Commerce staff and Board of Directors are excited about this opportunity to grow and expand with our city. Due to the expected growth in Marble Falls, this is the perfect time to better align our activities and events so as to better serve our Chamber members and community." – Jarrod Metzgar, Executive Director of the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce & CVB
