If you have had continuous water service through this event you do not have to boil your water. If you have lost water pressure or have no water and are in the affected boil water notification area (see map) please be advised that crews have been and continue to work around the clock to restore water service.
The sustained freezing temperatures coupled with rolling blackouts have impacted the City’s ability to treat and distribute water. These conditions have limited our intake of raw water for treatment, slowing water production. After treated water leaves our water plant, it goes through a chain of pipes and storage tanks. As of now, filling the Mormon Mill and Mustang storage tanks is our issue impacting the affected area. Our primary objective is to re-pressurize the portion of our water system in the affected area, while maintaining water service to the rest of the community. This work could take several days as we must have sustained warmer weather and little to no rolling blackouts to diagnose and repair the water system.
Please be assured that City crews are working diligently to diagnose and fix the problems associated with the inability to fill the storage towers.
Once water service is restored to the affected area, the boil water notice will remain in effect until public notification is given and the order is lifted. Typically, the need to boil water lasts for 24 to 48 hours, but can be longer and may last for several days or more. How long will depend on how long it takes for laboratory results to confirm it is safe to return to normal water use.
We are working on establishing water filling locations near the affected area where residents can visit to fill up on potable water during this difficult time. This information will be distributed later today.
We are working on establishing bottled water distribution for residents, however with road conditions, receiving shipments is severely limited. We will continue to provide updated information as we are able to get bottled water delivered.
- The City of Marble Falls is aware there are water issues.
- We are working as diligently as possible to get all issues resolved.
- The City is exhausting every effort to receive water shipments and coordinate distribution/filling locations.
- If you have low water pressure or are in a designated boil water location, please follow the boil water guidelines.
