City of Marble Falls July 4th Celebration: Q/A

Q: Why has the date of the July 4th celebration been changed?

A: We have made the decision to move the July 4th celebration to Saturday, July 1st, to manage our resources better and ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all residents and visitors of Marble Falls. The City of Marble Falls, along with other agencies, has determined that the strain on resources, including emergency personnel, public works department, parks and recreation staff, and assistance from other agencies, is significant and requires careful coordination.

Q: What specific resources are causing the strain on July 4th?

A: The July 4th celebration in Marble Falls is unique as the city launches its fireworks from a barge in the middle of Lake Marble Falls. This requires emergency personnel to assist with the closure of the lake and patrol during the event. Additionally, the event requires support and assistance from other agencies to provide personnel and equipment, which can be challenging to coordinate on the actual holiday due to increased demands and limited availability of resources.  The Highland Lakes as a whole are very popular, especially during a holiday, and in the past, resources have been stretched thin during the event.

Q: Will the Saturday, July 1st celebration be the same as the traditional July 4th celebration?

A: Yes, we are committed to providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for all attendees. The Saturday celebration will feature the same exciting lineup of events, including fireworks launched from a barge in the middle of Lake Marble Falls, live music, food vendors, and family-friendly activities organized by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Q: What should I do if I have already made plans for July 4th?

A: We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have already made plans for July 4th, we encourage you to consider adjusting them to join us on July 1st. However, we understand that scheduling conflicts may arise, and we hope to provide a live stream of the event for those who are unable to attend.

Q: How can I stay updated with the latest information about the July 1st celebration?

A: We will be sharing regular updates and announcements through various channels, including the city's official website, social media platforms, local news outlets, and communications from the Parks and Recreation Department. Please make sure to follow these channels to receive the most up-to-date information.

Q: What precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of attendees?

A: The safety of all attendees is our top priority. The Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with local law enforcement, emergency services, and event security, will implement comprehensive safety measures. These may include visible law enforcement presence, medical stations, and lake patrol during the fireworks display to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (830) 798-6250.  We appreciate your understanding and support as we strive to provide a safe and enjoyable July 4th celebration for the entire community… on July 1st 😉!
